GENERATION OF BIOELECTRICITY FROM ANAEROBIC BACTERIA

Every year the global energy demand increases. Approximately 86% of the world energy production comes from fossil fuels. Fossil fuels especially petroleum. Coals are being exhausted; leading to an energy crisis in the near future. Microbial fuel cell (MFC) is an alternative source of energy. Microbial fuel cells (MFCs) are an approach that uses microbes as a biocatalyst and changes the chemical energy deposited in chemical compounds into electrical energy. MFC represents a new form of renewable energy by generating bioelectricity in the process of wastewater treatment.
